STRUGGLE TO STRENGTH: Support Strategies for Recovery from Addiction

Struggle to Strength is designed to be a beneficial tool that will help individuals who struggle with Addiction (both substance-use and non-substance-related use disorders. It helps individuals look at their illness through a lens of compassion and respect, while helping them to prepare for a lifetime of sobriety.

When we can better understand the factors that may have led to our addiction, the relationship it has to our mental well-being; new ways to effectively cope with stressors, and the damaging effects that it can have on our brain and how we think, reasons and interpret right and wrong, we can begin to unveil that person behind the addiction – who we used to be – and start to support ourselves in a more compassionate and caring manner.

OBJECTIVES:
Struggle to Strength is 6 weeks of 4-hour sessions.

• Recognizing addiction and the risk factors that can lead to addiction
• Understanding and managing the effects of the brain and behaviours
• Strategies for mental illness, wellness and over all mental health
• Recovery, Trauma and Harm Reduction – Models of support
• A Holistic Recovery Path that provides options, choices and self-determination
• Understanding our role in support of recovery
• Learning a language of support – Self Determination, Strength and Recovery

 

COST: $ 1000.00
• 6 x 4-hours training sessions (24 hours total; one half day each week for 6 weeks)
• 4x monthly hour-long follow up sessions to help people implement and adapt as they progress in their recovery
• Facilitation, Workbook, Worksheets and Binder (morning and afternoon refreshments provided)

 

AUDIENCE:
Struggle to Strength is particularly valuable to individuals who may be struggling with substance use or addiction to substances or any of the ‘Process Addictions’ and who are ready to: rediscover their sense of self; to learn strategies to keep themselves well; to rebuild hope for success; and to empower themselves to take those first steps on the
path to recovery (18+)
